I've started having various readers contact me about the posts and information on this blog. First, let me thank everyone who has reached out and connected in some way. Sometimes it's to ask about my wife's situation or comment on a post, and other times it's to share views on research or non-profit organizations. It's also been an occasional thank you or word of encouragement for doing the blog. A few who have contacted me are also husbands battling breast cancer alongside their wives. Sometimes I wish I could help everyone but I can't, except in one way. I can pray for them along with prayers for my wife, her doctors, our family and her support network.
One of my strengths is "activator" (I took a very good strengths survey, called Strength Finder by the Gallop organization, in case you are ever interested in learning about this). So, my natural instincts are to "do something". The best way I know I can help is to pray for those touched by breast cancer. So I added a bcfh prayer list in the LH sidebar of the site. It will be a rolling list of the last 10 or so names added to the list.
I don't know if you are "religious", meaning you are Christian, follow another form of religion, or simply believe in a higher power. Maybe you don't believe in religion or are even very negative towards the topic. Doesn't matter to me -- I'm not hear to judge. (I have enough of my own stuff to account for, more or less, judge other people.) I have my own beliefs and belief system in my life. I respect everyone's individual choice in this matter.
Everyone added to the prayer list is a husband, wife, family member, anyone needing help battling this disease, is celebrating and praying for a life without breast cancer, or someone who is in some way affected by breast cancer. UPDATE: The prayer list also for anyone associated with battling other cancers, health concerns or simply wish that we keep them in our prayers. All are welcome. I'll simply add people who reach out to me and others who I may know that I'm praying for. Most, if not all, on the list will be people I probably don't know. I also invite you to say a prayer, share a moment of reflection, send good karma (I do believe in karma and serendipity, btw), or simply offer of your best wishes.
The list is there for everyone. Anyone is welcome to email me if you have someone you'd like added to the list. And I invite everyone to pray for those on the list too. When name scrolls off the list, it doesn't mean their name is gone, they are still there being prayed for but just don't show on the screen.
