Okay guys, want something that you can do that will help your wife's health? Juice for you and your wife.
When we first found out about the breast cancer diagnosis, one of the things we dedicated ourselves to was eating healthier. Part of that included juicing healthy organic fruits and vegetables every day. I wish I could say I've held true to that commitment over time but I've fallen off the wagon recently. We did juice for a long time but eventually when I slacked off from exercising every morning the juicing also suffered.
Tonight I'm recommitting to juicing again, just as I've recently begun a physical fitness program again (and it's resulted in losing 20 lbs. already.) I could go into why I think juicing is a very efficient and powerful way to get nutrients into our diet, but I'll save that discussion for another day.
So I thought I would share with you my daily juicing recipe that I make every morning (or will again going forward). I make the same juice for both my wife and myself.
Yummy Juice Recipe - 1 person, (double the recipe for you and your wife -- husbands need good nutrition too.)
- 4 good sized organic carrots
- 1 stalk organic celery, including leafy end
- 1 organic apple (stem, core and all)
- 1 organic orange, peeled (w/knife or by hand)
- 1 organic lime, or, 1/2 organic lemon (alternating is good)
Optional ingredients, these are good to alternate in every once in a while:
- 1/4 organic beet including stem and leaf, washed really well (strong taste but wonderful if you like beets like I do)
- 2 organic broccoli pieces (cut stem to head)
- 1 organic kale leaf, including stem
Stir and drink immediately after juicing. Then wipe the orange carrot mustache from your top lip :).
If you have other liquid health additives, such as seaweed, etc, you can add it to the juice. I recommend that you drink the juice immediately because there are theories out there that it loses many of the nutrients in the first 15 minutes after juicing. I don't know if this is in fact true, but you don't want to walk around with an orange carrot mustache all day, do you? :)
